As we start the new school year, I want to take a moment to extend a warm welcome to each of you. We are excited to embark on another year of learning, growth, and community engagement at Toutle Lake School District.
I’m pleased to introduce our new administrative team who will be leading us this year:
Gianne Curry, our new 7-12 Building Administrator, comes to us from the Kelso School District. She taught in their Alternative High School and was Kelso High School’s Dean of Students. She has also held several teaching positions in other states. She gives us a wealth of experience in fostering academic excellence and promoting a positive school culture. Gianne is passionate about supporting our students and staff and is eager to get to know our community.
Len Hiatt, is not new, but is our second year Elementary Principal. He brings teaching experience from Kalama and Kelso. He also served as an Athletic Director, Assistant Principal and Elementary Principal for the Kelso School District. Len brings a strong background in technology, instructional coaching, and social/emotional learning. He is dedicated to creating a safe and inspiring environment where all students can thrive.
Sally Johnson, is our new Director of Federal Programs. She will oversee our LAP, Title, and Highly Capable programs. She started teaching in our district in 2001. Sally took over our LAP and Title Programs in 2017. She has strong experience working with struggling learners and helping students reach success through intervention and enrichment.
Chris Schumaker, is our new Superintendent. He has worked in small schools his entire career. He taught social studies, coached multiple team sports, and was an instructional coach before moving into administration. Chris has been a building and district administrator for twelve years. He is committed to bringing steady leadership to the district, while partnering with staff, families, and the community to create a learning environment rich in collaboration, clarity, and culture.
As we prepare for the year ahead, we invite you to participate in our strategic plan survey. Your input is invaluable as we strive to create an educational environment that meets the needs of our students and community. You can access the survey through the links provided on Facebook, Skyward Parental Email, or our district website. Your feedback will help shape our goals and initiatives for the coming year.We are looking forward to a fantastic year filled with new opportunities, challenges, and achievements. Together, let’s make this year a memorable one for our students, staff, and community.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
